Floralscape 1: Pink and Blue Irises was inspired by bearded irises at my local botanical garden. Oils on durable polyester-cotton canvas, 36” x 36” x 1.5”, painted around the sides, ready to hang. My Floralscapes are a recent, still growing series of large florals that have abstract and surreal qualities. They invite the viewer to wander visually through the scenes they present, like a landscape invites the viewer to imaginatively wander into their landforms. They might also seem reminiscent of a dancer’s swirling skirts, as these iris blooms suggest to me. Pinks and blues are such wonderful colours to paint in, so tender, and so pleasant to view.
